So I finally saw the sequel to The Raid: Redemption (if you seen that film, or want to, you may want to read this, but there could be potential spoilers, but nothing major). The sequel is called The Raid: Berandal (the raid 2 berandal). If you saw the first one, then you know the story of Rama, a rookie cop brought on with a special task force to infiltrate a massive apartment building that is run by a notorious crime boss who rents it out to all sorts of baddies. When the team gets in, they dont get in clean, and the alarms are raised and the crime boss tells everyone inside that they get free rent forever if they kill one of the cops or all of them, etc. Shit hits the fan.. I mean, SHIT HITS THE FAN. The action was ridiculously awesome. I still cant fathom the great ideas the stunt team used (like real shots with hitting each other through the fight scenes, but only enough like wrestlers do in the wwe, to touch skin, to make it look as real as it can be, unlike a lot of martial art films, if not all). Now, this was killer, and awesome, bad ass, and done on such a tight budget you were shocked it looked as good as it did. The acting and story and character building was the shocking value of it all. At the core of these great outstanding fights that rivaled all the greats, was gritty action and the characters turmoils (not just honor, love, friends, family, all tied up into the webs thrown in this one around Rama). Anyway, as it ends up with the first film (spoiler alert!) ..... ... Rama walks off with the head asshole crooked cop who is really trying to take over some scheme of things using a team to infiltrate this place, and his brother. Theyre leaving as the soul survivors of all parties involved. Yeah.... YEAH SEE THAT ****ING MOVIE! lol. A lot of action. Anyway, about a year ago I saw The Raid Redemption director and star start filming a sequel and went nuts following it on and off with what I could... Then this shit hits the internet and almost causes me an aneurysm of awesome-pants. youtu.be/MG9uFX3uYq4 I couldnt even believe the presentation of this trailer. It blew my mind. This preview literally sets the exact hype you have to expect. I cant wait to watch this again and I rarely watch films twice (last time was avengers). The first film was written after this one was turned down originally. I know there will be a third one of some sort because this guy has just potentially started the end of an AMAZING trilogy that will revitalize the martial arts film industry. These films, btw, rocked rotten tomatoes scores, high, no problem, certified fresh each one. Now, The martial arts in this stuff, very believable. No wires. Gritty and absolutely brutal in all of its definition. THe story line was truly interesting to watch a man go undercover and actually betrayed into the first 20 minutes was a curveball I didnt even comprehend. So many curveballs throughout that you dont quite expect, including the very first 5 minutes (*(((((SPPOILLLEEERRR)))))) His brother that helps him survive in the first one and is set to run the crime syndicate there actually gets executed by his boss that he believed he had covered so well. That shit was a shock, specially with how he played it off at the end of the first film. Just bam, right there. Really sets up for some interesting villains and couple of Wow, didnt think that gimmick would kick that much ass and make sense in a casual concealed weapon idea assassins known as hammer girl and bat boy. Reminded me of something from the warriors but modern. I dont know, every key component of this film was top knotch. The only thing I wish I did was watch it with someone. This is one of those action movies you need to watch with someone, so you can go WHAT THE ****!!!! HOLY SH**!!!! and then rewind to watch that again. Even by myself, I was doing that lol.
