SHAME ON YOU BASTARDS...!!! Prince William’s Military Guard Dogs Were Euthanized After He Retired Although the Ministry of Defense (MoD) is saying it was merely coincidental, the two dogs that guarded Prince William at a Royal Air Force (RAF) base were euthanized shortly after he left the military last week. Brus, a 7-year-old Belgian Shepherd, and Blade, a 9-year-old German Shepherd, had patrolled the North Wales base “in a two-dog section set up specifically to protect William” during his seven years as a search-and-rescue pilot for the RAF, a source told The Sun. After William retired last week, military officials decided the two dogs could not be redeployed or adopted. “The department’s policy is to re-home all military working dogs at the end of their service life wherever practicable,” a MoD spokesman told the Daily Mail. “Regrettably, however, there are occasions when they have to be put down.” He said Brus “had come to the end of his work life” and Blade could not be redeployed because of the dog’s “record of veterinary and behavioral issues.” Brus and Blade were euthanized on Friday, three days after William retired. “This action is only ever taken as a last resort,” an RAF spokesman told the Mail. “Unfortunately, in this case the dogs were unsuitable for re-homing or alternative duties and so, sadly, for the animal’s welfare, they had to be put down.” In the U.S., it used to be standard practice to euthanize military dogs – who are considered “equipment” – when they were no longer needed. Nowadays, many of these dogs are adopted by families. After a Navy SEAL dog named Cairo helped take down Osama bin Laden in 2011, a spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base in Texas said there was a six-month waiting list for families wanting to adopt military dogs. Prince William, who has not commented on the deaths of Brus and Blade, reportedly had no interaction with the two guard dogs. At home, he and Kate are devoted pet parents to Lupo, a black Cocker Spaniel. At a polo match last year, William was photographed holding Lupo in his lap and giving him a kiss.
