SHAME !!!!!!!!!!! SADC: We Did Not Say Election Was Fair The head of the SADC observer team, Bernard Membe said Friday Zimbabwe’s harmonised elections were peaceful but it was difficult to say they were fair. “We did not say it was fair, it’s simply because in the report that will come the question of fairness is broad and you cannot answer it in one day. “So be sure that within 30 days of our main report the question of fairness may come, but we didn’t want to jump to conclusions at this point in time when close to 600 of our observers have just come in and have given us the report, so we didn’t like to jump into that conclusion.” Membe said Movement for Democratic Change leader, Morgan Tsvangirai had to accept the outcome even though it was hard. “We cannot now say that there should be an idea of nullification — at what cost, at what cost? Elections in the world are not perfect, but under the circumstances where elections took place under a cordial, peaceful and non-violent atmosphere, we must agree to accept the facts no matter how painful this might be.” ZANU-PF’s legal affairs secretary, Patrick Chinamasa said Tsvangirai should follow legal channels to challenge the results after they are announced. “After the announcement of the presidential result anyone who is aggrieved can challenge that result through an application to the Constitutional Court, and the constitution gives seven days from the announcement of the results within which to do that. “So I want to invite Mr Tsvangirai to please avail himself of these constitutional provisions so that he can get the remedy that he thinks he deserves.” This is Free and Fair Zimbabwe Election
