SHAPPUKARI The tagline of Shappukari cries out loud, “The ethnic Kerala food court!”, apt in all respects. It is a place where all your taste buds will compete to absorb the pure ethnic tastes of Kerala. Shappukari, is a place where you can have the much hyped Kallu Shappu (toddy parlour) food. Shappukari is a major eat out for food lovers. Prepared out of home-made masala mix, the diverse foods that are available is mind boggling - duck, fish, meat, both in fried and curry forms - are available here. Only pork and toddy are exceptions - sorry, if you were misled by the tagline. Everyday, fish dishes vary according to the availability of fish. But you can be sure of fresh and tasty fish curry here. The menu boasts of karimeen pollichathu, karimeen curry, duck roast, duck curry, chemmen curry and kappa (tapioca). These are some of the specials of Shappukari. List of everyday dishes will be displayed at the entrance. You will have plenty of time to read the list because the joint would in all possibilities be full by the time you reach there. So take it easy, plan ahead and eat well. Ambience: It is a typical eat out. You cannot spend too much time there as people would be waiting outside for their turn. However, it would be a visual treat to your eyes. Having lunch in the bamboo laid room would be a novel experience. Time: You can have the tasty food from 12 pm – 2pm. Usually meals will be over by 2 pm. Hence, it is better to hurry - early bids catch the fish. Parcels are also available.
