SHE HAS WRITTEN TO THE PARLIAMENT…FOR OUR ADVICE! ‘’I really need the Parliament’s advice. I had an accident (4 years ago) that broke my femur (the bone on the upper part of the leg) and I have been walking with the aid of crotches since then. Even with my crotches, a guy proposed to me. I later learned he could barely feed himself but because I sensed he is a smart guy-I have been persuading him to find his feet-even if it means learning a trade…all my words seem to be falling on deaf ears. I live with my elder sister and her wealthy husband. My sister has been the one footing the bills of my medical treatment and academics…in fact, my sister does everything for me, Do you know that whenever this guy visits…I would be the one to signal him that it’s time to leave-he never likes leaving whenever he visits! Initially, he used to buy gifts for me and I do same for him too, I even give him money but my problem with him is his idleness. Sometime last year, he saw a ‘second hand’ vehicle and told me about it, I talked to a girlfriend in another city and we put money together to buy the vehicle-for a transportation business. Do you know that this guy demanded we pay him 10% commission, his reason being that it was through him that we bought the vehicle? I was disappointed because all my efforts were because I want to improve our economic lot-if we eventually become husband and wife. We promised to settle him once proceeds start coming in from the business but shortly afterwards-he demanded for the 10%(of the cost of the vehicle) commission again and by this time…the driver of the vehicle had already started misbehaving…you know the stories that come with ‘transport business’. Shortly after, we decided to sell the vehicle. He looked me in the eyes and told me that he would never ask me about the vehicle issue again and he never did. His late dad didn’t inherit any land from his father and it is the same thing with this my guy-nothing to fall back on or even call his own-even in his village. I have also discovered that he is very dishonest when anything involves money. I once asked him to go for deliverance, he refused. He can argue over a minor issue from morning till night. He even asks me for money in the presence of people. He is likable but a lot of things about him irritate me. I have told him to stop ‘fianceeing’ me if he can’t get himself to go for deliverance in the church but he now claims that I do not love him anymore, that I am breaking his heart because I made it clear that he is not encouraging me at all. I have decided not to render any help again to him-he seems rather ungrateful. I just want the Parliament to tell me if or not I have been unfair to him. I am 33 years old, he is 38 years old. He used to own a chemist shop but he ran into troubled waters with the NDLEA and the shop was shut down. Since then, he has refused to make enough efforts to be on his feet. We are from the south East’’
