SHURUGWI MAN STABS SMALLHOUSE AND TRIES TO KILL HIMSELF AFTER ACCUSING GIRLFRIEND OF HAVING AN AFFAIR A Shurugwi man and his girlfriend are battling for life after the man attempted to kill his lover by stabbing her several times with a knife before attempting to commit suicide by drinking poison. The man, Hardness Chisamba (36) was accusing his girlfriend of having an affair with another man. Chisamba vainly tried to kill himself and his girlfriend, Ms Chenai Rambanapasi (29), and the two were rushed to Shurugwi District Hospital where they are admitted. Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, which occurred last week at Danga Village under Chief Ndanga. He said the condition of Chisamba and his girlfriend was said to be critical. “I can confirm that police in Shurugwi are investigating a case in which Hardness Chisamba (36) is now facing an attempted murder charge after he stabbed his girlfriend several times in the chest and arms. Chisamba was accusing his girlfriend, Ms Chenai Rambanapasi of having an affair with another man. He then attempted to commit suicide by drinking some poison. A villager who responded to the alarm later alerted the police at Donga Police Post who then attended to the scene,” said Insp Mahoko. He said Chisamba and Ms Rambanapasi were rushed to Zvamavande Clinic and were later transferred to Shurugwi District Hospital. “The suspect, Chisamba, is receiving treatment under police guard but his condition and that of his girlfriend is said to be critical” he said.
