SIA update- In May of this year the Disclosure and Barring - TopicsExpress

SIA update- In May of this year the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) introduced new filtering procedures, meaning that certain old and minor convictions will not show up on its criminal records certificates. In line with these changes, the DBS also wishes to amend question e55 on its Disclosure and Barring Service application form. ("Have you ever been convicted of a criminal offence or received a caution, reprimand or warning?"). However, because the DBS cannot make this change straight away it is asking applicants to ignore the current wording of the question and instead treat it as if it is asking "Do you have any unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings?" The change does not affect SIA licence applicants since our application form does not ask this question. However, we have been asked by the DBS to bring the change to the attention of any individuals who may need to complete the Disclosure and Barring Service application form - for example, employers wishing to undertake criminal record checks on their employees.
