SIMPLY AMAZING…KRUGER NATIONAL PARK Our students started early (wake-up at 4:45 AM, so parents should know that getting to school on time is in the realm of possibility for all our students ;o). Seven four-by-fours loaded with guides and students broke through the mist at dawn and headed for the south side of Kruger National Park. We crossed the Crocodile River and entered through Malelane Gate to enjoy the sights of a sunrise over the savanna. They saw the Magnificent 7 (big 5, plus giraffe and cheetah) big five = lion, Cape buffalo, rhino, elephant, leopard). Notable siting included a large male lion (guides indicated that it was the dominate male of the whole park), a leopard in a tree, a stampede of elephants, a journey of giraffe (Ms. Wade wanted to included this), hippos at the hotel (from the overlook), and a few lucky students enjoyed the lion passing alongside their Land Rover with-in arms reach. They enjoyed a buffet lunch alongside the river (in an open camp) with vervet monkeys and baboons (held back by an armed guard looking out for hyenas). Tomorrow, the group will head out again for an early morning game drive and then be headed to Swaziland! UPDATE ALERT…The group will likely have no internet access in Swaziland starting tomorrow afternoon until mid-day Wednesday. Please do not be concerned if there is no update.
