SIX SOCIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CULTS [1] Authoritarian Leadership Authoritarianism involves the acceptance of an authority figure who exercises excessive control on cult members. As prophet or founder, this leader’s word is considered ultimate and final. . . . Often this authoritarianism involves legalistic submission to the rules and regulations of the group as established by the cult leader (or, as in Islam, Muslims are known by their submission to Allah and Muhammad, not any other prophet despite the fact they are no supposed to make distinction, or in modern times, for the Jehovah’s Witnesses, submission to the Watchtower Society). Cult members are fully expected to submit, even if they do not agree with the requirements. Unquestioning obedience is compulsory. Obedience and submission is a criteria for admission to the cults paradise/heaven Surah 3. Al-Imran 132. And obey Allah and the messenger, that ye may find mercy. Surah 33. Al-Ahzab 36. And it becometh not a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His messenger have decided and affair (for them), that they should (after that) claim any say in their affair; and whoso is rebellious to Allah and His messenger, be verily goeth astray in error manifest. Surah 47. Muhammad 33. O ye who believe! Obey Allah and obey the messenger, and render not your actions vain. Surah 58. Al-Mujadila 13. Fear ye to offer alms before your conference? Then, when ye do it not and Allah hath forgiven you, establish worship and pay the poor due and obey Allah and His messenger. And Allah is Aware of what ye do. Surah 64. At-Tagabun 12. Obey Allah and obey His messenger; but if ye turn away, then the duty of Our messenger is only to convey (the message) plainly. Notice “obey his messenger” is repeated over and over in the Qur’an for maximum measure and since it is recited on a regular, the brainwashing effect is almost irreversible.
