SO, There it was,Didnt realise it at the time,But on the dummy grid for the last time ever(Lucky I managed to scrape a win to finish off haha),Following my decision to make myself unavailable for reappointment as roadrace commissioner due to health reasons earlier in the year I have had some time to ponder the future and reflect on the past,To put an end to the numerous calls and emails re my plans for the future,I have decided to end my involvement with motorcycling in total,With my 60th coming up in a couple of months theres not really alot left for me in the sport outside of Posties and as that class is in utter turmoil and being badly mishandled by ALL involved,Its not for me,While weve made some excellent headway over the past 4 years with the recognition of the 250 production class in 2011 and then following it up by bringing Luke Burgess over to promote the class(And later Lachlan Epis) despite a small group of experts telling us we were wasting our time as the bikes were to slow and the racing was boring(Funny how those same people are now backing the class and sending competitors from it to Aus),Introducing the Development class much to the disgust of some,The introduction of a number of commonsense rulechanges(Again against the wishes of some experts) in the interests of making the track a safer place for all and of course the revised format for the NZSBK series that proved so popular last season,Great to see Greg has continued on with the same format for 2015.Its been a 43 year blast and Ive met some top people along the way(Some real f$%kheads as well),All involved in NZSBK 2014,I cant thank you enough for your dedication and enthusiasm to get the job done,No matter what and all those who have supported me over the years,You know who you are,Im not gonna mention names as there are too many.Lost some good friends and acquaintences over the years,Starting with Peter Lovelock at Puke in 79 through to Kerry Bates last year RIP to you all.Unfortunately I couldnt stay on and continue with my goal of ridding the sport of the OLDBOYS CLUB that has been holding the sport back and making the same dumb mistakes and decisions since as far back as 1994,Good to hear from Greg when I had a meeting earlier with him that he had identified the same people as a problem area that needs tidying up,Get behind him as he will need all the help he can get. The future awaits and I cannot wait to get started,Good luck to all and give Greg all the support you can Hes a top bloke and one of the few involved you can trust.CIAO.
