SO....here is what Iowa City said about my knee April 7th. This is from my actual medical chart and what the surgeon wrote in it: ----------------------------------------------------------- RESULTS REVIEWED: X-rays from OSH demonstrate grade IV osteoarthritis with medial compartment most affected. Varus alignment. Slight lateral tracking. ASSESSMENT: A 44-year-old female with grade IV osteoarthritis of the left knee with BMI of (NOT SHARING WITH YOU ALL SORRY) PLAN: We discussed with her that we feel she is indicated for left total knee arthroplasty, but keep her safe, we recommended that she lose weight and achieve BMI of (LOSE 55 POUNDS). If she is able to achieve this, we would be able to indicate her for surgery. We stated that she should call us once she has been successful with this. ------------------------------------------------------------ WHAT AM I MISSING HERE???? Grade IV is the worst Osteoarthritis. Stage 4 Stage 4 OA is considered “severe.” People in stage 4 OA of the knee experience great pain and discomfort when walking or moving the joint. The Treatment Total knee replacement, or arthroplasty, is a last resort for most patients with severe OA of the knee.
