SOCIAL MEDIA & DISCONNECTION: You would think that with the array - TopicsExpress

SOCIAL MEDIA & DISCONNECTION: You would think that with the array and multitude of platforms for people to interact and actually connect in the modern era that there might be a stronger basis for people to develop meaningful connections and engage in more fascinating in depth dialogues. But the proliferation of portals has had an inverse correlation in meaningful discourse in America. That should not surprise me I guess because it is sort of like the experience of having Cable TV with 1000 channels and nothing to watch. It was once hard to get laid or you at least had to be thoughtful, creative and persistent to make it all happen and easy to meet interesting people, that you were not actually attracted to. NOW, ironically enough, now its easier to get laid and harder to meet someone actually still worth talking to after your done emptying your sack. Now that is truly phucked! And in terms of who is interesting or considered interesting, our Twitter culture rewards the Twittering Twats with vacuous brands which push "the beast"- which is more and more consumption of bad art and culture while pushing more of the culture of distraction than it does enlightenment and evolution. Our society now seemingly rewards reverse intelligence. If you are truly intelligent, compassionate and introspective, this world has little value for your services. When I meet an extremely intelligent spirit at this juncture, I think I would rather be tied to a chair, have her smack me in the face, go off on some intellectual or political rant and then charge me before kicking me out, than to go on the perfect date with a fashion bot.anxietyculture/distract.htm
