SOCRATES RETURNS! Well, not the late Brazilian legend Dr. Socrates, but Power Dynamos legend Linos Makwaza He was called Socrates (Sokile) from what my ears heard for themselves at Independence Stadium from then Power Dynamos boss Briton Jim Bone during training before the Kitwe giants edged BCC Lions 3-1 in Lusaka to lift the Africa Cup Winners Cup in 1991 5-4 on aggregate. Sokile being a corruption of Socrates by fans, was a nickname for the unparalleled head master of his generation. Who could compare with Lino or Bashi Kenny as we-then youngsters- called him at Arthur Davies Stadium with heading the ball-into the net? Makwaza is set to return to coaching at Lime Hotspurs. The former Zambia international has had a stop start coaching career having been at the helm at Nkana before being replaced by late Masauso Mwale. He later took Mwales vacancy at Konkola Mine Police but later quit. The 1994 Africa Cup silver medalist is expected to replace former Zambia internationals George Chilufya and Clive Hachilensa who have struggled with the Ndola side winning only one match this season in Division One North. Makwaza may be assisted by former defensive teammate at Power Dynamos Shex Chipoya sources say. The son of Zambias 1974 Africa Cup skipper Dickson Kenneth Makwaza, [the central defender with a distinct record of not receiving a yellow or red card in his career as a central defender both for country and club Mighty Mufulira Wanderers], when the Copper Bullets contested the only twice played final in the history of the Africa Cup eventually losing the replay to Zaire Leopards 2-0 after a 2-2 draw in the first final, is expected to sign a two-year-deal.
