SOME CLARIFICATIONS AND VITAL INFORMATION ON THE STRUGGLE SO FAR Sent: Sat, Apr 12, 2014 10:03:11 PM Compliments, distinguished colleague. The rumoured meeting of the Presidency with the Union leadership on Tuesday, 8th April, 2014, is not true - it was mere speculation from the press, on the strength of the meeting of the Presidency with the ES, NCCE, NBTE etc. However, while sources inform that FG is making efforts towards speedy resolution, the activities of FG top functionaries especially the coordinating Minister of Education remains suspect. This stems from his media propaganda that we were offered the option of payment of migration by two instalments, which is not true. Also, he elected to meet with the Committee of Federal Provosts (COFEP) instead of the Union leadership on Friday, 11th April, 2014. Coming on the heels of our meeting with the HML & P on Wedn. 26th March, 2014, at the instance of President Jonathan himself, witnessed by the NLC President and Secretary General - who brokered the meeting, our suspicion of govt intention becomes quite evident. Meanwhile, do be informed that the COFEP has invited the Union leadership to a meeting on Tuesday, 15th April, 2014. Our expectation has been essentially a feedback from govt on the outcome of our meeting with the HML & P and NLC leadership as well as, or FG action plan on the issues in contention following the meeting of the ES and others with the Presidency. You are hereby enjoined to be prepared for an emergency meeting followed by a match on Abuja, should the meeting with COFEP turned out to be another rhetoric, devoid of concretely meaningful steps to resolve the issues. Once scheduled, you would be expected to attend with your chapter vehicle carrying at least 5 members for a brief meeting after which we drive into Abuja, in convoy, for a joint protest with ASUP and concerned labour bodies and NGOs. NOC says bravo for your unflinching solidarity. The time is now to ensure a logical conclusion of the age-long quest for a better COE system. The struggle continues, as victory is certain!
