SOMETIMES Sometimes you have to drive 10 hours straight to a gig, get out of your van and walk directly to the stage to begin playing your show without missing a lick. Sometimes you make enough money to cover gas and expenses, sometimes you do a little better, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes the weather is wonderful; sometimes it is freezing ice, pouring rain or falling snow. Sometimes you feel like all the cards are in your favor, sometimes you turn on the radio and realize that they are all stacked against you. Sometimes you realize that you are blessed to be older with more life experience than most of the new entertainers in the business, sometimes you realize that it’s not always a blessing. Sometimes the crowd treats you wonderful, and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes you think about quitting and sometimes… you just take a breath, close your eyes for a second, and write another song.
