SON OF TIGER RIDGE LINES UP FOR GROUP ONE @Wilgerbosdrift Kavanagh, one of the best South African sons of Wilgerbosdrift’s leading sire Tiger Ridge, is a runner in Saturday’s Group One Betfred Sprint Cup. The Sprint Cup, a 1200m sprint at Haydock Park, will jump at 16:50 (South African time). Kavanagh, who is trained by champion Mike de Kock, will be partnered by Pat Cosgrove. The 6yo gelding meets some stiff opposition including July Cup hero Lethal Force, Group One winner Gordon Lord Byron, and last year’s Middle Park Stakes winner Reckless Abandon. Bred and owned by Wilgerbosdrift, Kavanagh has won seven races, including three feature races. A winner in Dubai earlier in the year, Kavanagh comes into Saturday’s contest having run sixth in a Listed race at Newmarket last time out. He will bidding to enhance the fantastic reputation that SA bred horses are enjoying on the international stage.
