SONG OF THE DAY #6 -- this one is out of my childhood - used to - TopicsExpress

SONG OF THE DAY #6 -- this one is out of my childhood - used to listen to it over and over on the radio - late night with the lights out. Stan Jones wrote it and did a 78rpm of it in 1949. But its not the best recording - his voice was a bit thin to carry it. Johnny Cash did one to, but I think its a bit affected, and Burl Ives voice is a little too alto for it. This one by Marty Vaughn is about the best I think and was the one that hit the charts and stayed for almost a year. But I still think the definitive recording is still waiting to be done -- the one where the storm comes up and the clouds boil over and the sun disappears and your campfire goes out, and these guys come riding out of the western sky like the nazgul out of hell... totally basso -- dont know who, dont know when. but when it happens, Ill tell you this, Ill know it when I hear it and it will make the hair on my neck stand up - yessir. [remember to vote for this or any previous Song-of-the-Day by liking it. And pm me with your own requests (include link) havent had any of those yet.
