SOUTHAMPTON vs EVERTON The 12.45 kick off may be was a bit too early for the Everton players, who were yet to wake up, when they gifted Southampton with two early goals. It was quite unprecedented the way they inflicted the self defeating blows to there Champions league hopes. Two first half own goals from Antolin Alcaraz, in for the injured sylvian Distin and the second from Seamus Coleman sealed the victory for the Saints. Everton looked low on energy, slow, jaded, indecisive, tired and looked nervous compared to their recent high standards. Southamptons up field pressing game and quick passing, finally worn them down. They were fisrt to every second ball and could have increased their tally. It was clear Everton missed the commanding presence of Sylvian Distin. His replacement Alcaraz looked nervous and took him no time to score an own and looked uncomfortable through out the game. Everton had a mometary spell in the 2nd half and should have had a penalty only for the referee to wave away and wrongly booked Leon Osman for diving. They had another good goal scoring chance, but Lukaku headed straight at the goal keeper. In the end the Saints were worthy winners and deserved the all three points. Their loss has given the momentum to Arsenal, to get a firmer grip on the fourth Champions league spot. They could go 4 points clear if they can seal a victory against Newcastle United on monday night #Gunners been there done it..... #experience...
