SPARE KAMAMA: BLAME GAME ON BARINGO COUNTY INSECURITY WILL NEVER BE THE SOLUTION By Dr. Daniel Kandagor Blaming Hon. Asman Kamama on insecurity in Baringo County is not only unpalatable but inconsistent with the spirit of conflict resolution. Baringo leaders, and in particular the Member of Parliament for Baringo South, should not allude that Hon Kamama’s resignation as the House National security chairman can lead to an end to insecurity in Baringo County. As far as I know, insecurity in Baringo County and especially the cattle rustling menace is a legendary activity which existed before Hon. Kamama and hence can only end with the cooperation of all residents of Baringo County. Suffice to say this, our leaders must cease from engaging in blame game on security matters at all times. Instead, Hon Kamama and Hon. Grace kipchoim should be at the forefront in bringing the people of Tiyaty and Baringo South constituencies to a dialogue to jettison the impasse. On issues of development, Hon. Kamama has done his best to develop Tiyaty from the time he took the mantle of leadership as a Member of Parliament of Baringo East constituency as it was called then. Under his watch, many schools have been build, electricity has been extended to many areas of Tiyatiy and now a tarmac road is being build from Loruk. Hon. Kipchoim is yet to initiate any meaningful development in Baringo South. She needs to come up with workable ideas that will bring peace and a return of our people to their ancestral land such as Ramacha and Naromoru without blaming Hon. Kamama. Consequently, I wish to urge the resident of Baringo County to support Governor Benjamin Cheboi in recruiting community policing officers in pursuit of the county’s vision which states as follows: “To be the most attractive, competitive and resilient county that affords the highest standards of living and security for all its residents”. The county government, however, should also motivate the Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) through payment of allowances as a measure of scaling up a rapid response to issues of insecurity in Baringo County. Long live Baringo County. Dr. Daniel Kandagor alias Son of the Soil is the Director to Mt. Kenya University Kabarnet Campus the
