SPEAKS LESS BUT SPEAKS THOUSANDS : President of India Speaks out for Women. I have met President of India in his Office,Rastrapati Bhavan, New Delhi for 2 consecutive years.I used to be the only woman present amongst the 26 Member of District Council of Churachandpur,Manipur as there was none of my gender in the members. Infact, our Indian President is quite old and person who speaks very less as I saw and did not seem to be much excited about what goes around with different issues of the world. But, the attitudes of His Officials and attendants towards me,the lone woman member coming to meet them was quite surprising and satisfactory. As if all their eyes and attentions were always with me hehe....In our first visit, by mistake, some of our colleaques name were missed out inbthe visit list and they could not get into the Bhavan with us.As we were waiting the Presideht at the Hall ,some of my male colleaques tried their level best repeatedly requesting those Officials to let those colleaques outside get into the hall and join us ,seemed the officials were not that much attentive towards them. Finally, I could not helped being silent,as normal. I had to join in the request though it looked much better for most people that a woman keeps silent when with so many men around. Honestly,on my request, the officials of the President seemed to be more attentive and responsive.I dint meant our colleaques could join us due to my request but I had a feeling and could sense atleast my voice was also taken much importance and could atleast add some percent of their seriousness and concern on our request.I was really impressed upon those officials and attendants of the President that they were very much gender sensitive and had high regards for women. This short message of our President reminds me of those moments at his Bhavan.Indeed, though He speaks less, his speech few words are worth thousands. Only a nation that respects and empowers its women can become global power, ~Pranab Mukherjee,President of India on his speech on the Eve of the 66th Indian Republic Day Celebration.
