SPECIAL APPEAL Dear Grapeviners and all who sail in her. Many of you have now seen Lee & Michelle Chapmans Crowdfunding appeal to renovate old cottages into special retreats that can then be rented for part of the season which will allow them to cover the running costs of rental time that they donate to charities dealing with post traumatic stress disorder amongst British soldiers who, lets face it, have experienced things that you and I cannot begin to imagine. You will also have seen the little video I shot for the project. As Michelle mentioned, some people that are pledging money are apologising for pledging only ten pounds when in fact every ten pounds goes a long way towards their goal of raising £40000 to enable them to complete the first retreat cottage. Now heres another fact, there are far in excess of 10,000 foreigners living on Corfu. Well over 4000 of them are on the Corfu grapevine. How easy would it therefore be to raise the necessary sum at £10 each. So I would like to ask you all if you would be willing to go without some very small item and pledge that £10 on this cause. If they reach that goal, you will be part of that and Im sure they will hold some open days so that you can come and visit to see what you have achieved. How cool would that be!! So Im going on my laptop later and Ill get the ball moving further ahead by pledging £50 to this very unique and special project. Now I know that there are people amongst you who can afford that amount and some can pledge far more. But any amount would help.
