This Monday, November 17th, @ 6:30 P.M. - City Hall Please come by to petition your government to finally right a wrong and to remove this electronic sign from our historic district! Legal Observation of the Day: O.C.G.A. 32-6-75(c)(1) Multiple message signs shall be permitted... under the following conditions: (A) Each multiple message sign shall remain fixed for at least ten seconds. (In the currently frantic full cycle display sequence of this sign - 46 image changes occur in 2 minutes, 20 seconds. This is the sign that for aesthetic reasons alone the great majority of outspoken citizens would like removed outright. This sign currently remains fixed on a single display an average of 3.04 seconds - some images move on and off screen even faster. State law, written to keep these new technology signs from distracting drivers, requires a 10 second fixed image before the next image is presented. It is currently set to a speed over three times faster than the law allows, and thus under Georgia law is a hazard to local driving. The viewing range of this sign is relatively small - an underpass to the Southeast and building obstructions in all other directions - so to simply slow the sign down to make it legal would frustrate the intended effect to inform the community. Putting it simply, this is the wrong place for the wrong sign. Please show up Monday at 6:30 pm and show your support to remove it.)
