SPENT A FEW MINUTES, READ IT AND PLEASE SHARE IT IF ITS WORTHY A MURKY DEAL A rather blurred foggy afternoon of January in Lucknow, KD Singh Babu Stadium, she in her starting teens enters the gymnastics ground sweating profusely. Locks her cycle and barges inside. After the sweat, now you are swiped over your feet by her stunts. All the girls around her, junior or senior are doing the same activities but she catches your eye because she stands out, her flexibility is maximum. She walks on her hands, with her legs upwards in air and covers a long path, then she lies down and asks her partner to stretch her legs one by one over her head and here you bite your nails! Her toe is touching the floor! Suddenly you are disturbed by the screaming voices of the coach and senior hostellers, Why do you come every day, even a dog is more shameful than you, you are not allowed to do gymnastics here, we will not teach you. She comes out, tears rolling down her red cheek, stands in limbo for a while and then starts peeping through the window and imitating the gymnastics outside on floor without any mat. I feel sympathetic for the coach, she is truly missing her Eklavya. Make no mistake, this is the same stadium where gates remained closed for just-like-that players and their parents vehicles but have to be open for bureaucrats and their sons, who at times “grace” the stadium for some leisurely practice sessions. The phenomenon was very common during previous government though. And of course, this is the same stadium that comes under the Sports Directorate, whose director was recently suspended only because the swimming pool at Saifai, the home town of our young Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, was not found up to the mark. I asked the girl about the scene that just happened inside and she calmly responds, my father is not a big man, everyday I have to commute with my younger sister as a pillionist upto Central School, Aliganj from Qaiserbagh. These curses are a daily phenomenon for me and it has started since my father couldnt join the chain marketing system of A.... , which the coach had asked him to. But I will continue doing this, I love gymnastics. I am speechless, I try to search a little deeply and melancholy find the girl right! But the official excuse is that the Eklavya in the making is “overage”. How many times will we give in to the system or accept it as a part of Indian system? Can we do something about the girl who can bring international laurels or let her fade off because her father cannot be a part of some chain... If we cant, at least pray that the next CM is right from the constituency where KD Singh Babu stadium in Lucknow is!! Ridiculously Yours
