SPLENDOR: I finally played this game last night. I stand by my earlier assessments that this game is more hype than game. If it wasnt for the SDJ nomination and the poker chips this game would be lost in a shop gathering dust (in fact it was when it first came out). The game is not overly interesting or creative. Its basic engine building at best. But the love it gets on BGG and elsewhere has made this game a hot seller (as well as being in limited supply for a bit). So yeah, Ill sell it, but as a publisher/designer Im ashamed by what the marketplace is doing. Have we come to the point where hype and marketing attached with a light/fast gateway game is the type of game that gets any love these days?
