Putkonen made the Tigers opening day roster last season, but pitched in two games before having surgery in June to remove a bone spur from his elbow. Meanwhile, former Detroit outfielder Andy Dirks has signed a minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Dirks was claimed off waivers by Toronto in October and became a free agent last month. He missed all of last season with the Tigers because of injuries to his back and hamstring. Major League Baseballs All-Star Game is coming to San Diego. The Padres have been awarded the 2016 All-Star Game, which will take place at Petco Park. MLB officials say the game will likely bring about 80-million-dollars in economic impact to San Diego. The Padres last hosted baseballs Midsummer Classic in 1992 at Jack Murphy Stadium, which the American League won 13-6. It will be San Diegos third All-Star Game overall. Major League Baseball may not be ready for a pitch-clock, but its making its way to the minors. Fox Sports reports pitch-clocks will be implemented this season at the Double-A and Triple-A levels. The MLB Pace of Game committee explored ways to speed up games after the league set a record in 2014 with a game-time average of three hours and eight minutes. The average is up 30 minutes since 1984. The pitch-clock was used during the Arizona Fall League, and pitchers had 20 seconds to come set on the rubber. Exceeding the pitch-clock would result in a ball added to a batters count. Kyle Bosch has found his new home. And hell be joining a familiar face. The former Michigan offensive lineman, who opted to transfer from the school earlier this month, was officially announced as a transfer to West Virginia on Thursday. Bosch is the second Michigan transfer to wind up at West Virginia, joining former Wolverine linebacker Michael Ferns -- who left the program in December. Per West Virginia, Bosch is enrolled at WVU for the spring semester. Hell have to sit out the 2015 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Despite an amazing three-game starting run to a national championship, quarterback Cardale Jones is returning to Ohio State next season. Jones made his decision public Thursday afternoon. Speculation grew that Jones would leave school and enter the NFL Draft after he tweeted earlier in the day that he was ready to announce a life-changing decision. Jones says hes simply not ready for the NFL after just three collegiate starts. He added that he wants to graduate and be done with school before trying to play pro ball. Jones came out of nowhere to lead the Buckeyes to the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship after J.T. Barrett broke his ankle in the regular-season finale against Michigan. 1/18/15- AFC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP @ 6:40 INDIANAPLIS COLTS V.S.
