SPORTS TALK : "Amherst Ramblers, fans gear up for exciting season" By Jamie Heap-THE AMHERST NEWS. Friday, September 6, 2013. With the Maritime Junior ‘A’ pre-season schedule well underway, and training camp now a distant memory, Amherst Ramblers players and fans alike await their September 14 home opener against Woodstock. The CIBC Wood Gundy Junior ‘A’ Ramblers, who played a home-and-home exhibition series with the Truro Bearcats last week, battle the Dieppe Commandos tomorrow night at Amherst Stadium starting at 7:00 pm before travelling to Dieppe on Sunday. Puck drop is 2:30 pm. The Ramblers’ 52-game season schedule, which consists of 26 home games and 26 road games, begins Friday, September 13 on the road against the Valley Jr. A Wildcats. As alluded to, the Ramblers’ home opener will be on Saturday, September 14 starting at 7:00 pm at Amherst Stadium against the Woodstock Slammers. The following day, the Miramichi Timberwolves visit Amherst for a 4:00 pm game. On Friday, September 20, the Ramblers will be travelling to Yarmouth to take on the Mariners before facing the Truro Bearcats the following night in Truro. The following Saturday, September 28, the Summerside Western Capitals travel to Amherst to play the Ramblers at 7:00 pm.
