SPORTS UPDATE WITH EMMAH ATAI: Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has been fined £10,000 after his sarcastic appraisal of officials following the loss to Sunderland. The FA announced yesterday that Mourinho had been fined in relation to his congratulatory comments made about the match officials following the 2-1 Premier League defeat on April 19. Mourinho, 51, congratulated referee Mike Dean after Chelsea had been beaten 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. A Football Association statement said his comments brought the game into disgrace and the Portuguese was guilty of a charge of improper conduct. Football Association chairman Greg Dyke warns that failure to adopt his plans to improve English football could lead to a bleak future for homegrown talent. Dykes proposals, which include a new tier within the Football League to accommodate Premier League B teams, have provoked lots of criticism. Liverpool have made a £20 million bid for Southamptons Adam Lallana as Brendan Rodgers sets about bolstering his squad for an assault on the Champions League. Sam Allardyce insists he is planning for next season at West Ham.
