SRILA PRABHUPADAS QUOTES: VERBATIM PLEASE Srila Prabhupadas quotes need to be taken seriously, and for them to be taken seriously there must be some kind of recorded form where the quote can be traced back to. It is not academically honest to be using and posting hearsay quotes of anyone as if they were real quotes, as much as a so called quote may be true. A hearsay quote maybe even completely true, yet it is most likely not verbatim. The fact that a hearsay quote can not be verified makes the matter even more serious. Hearsay quotes also leave a lot of room for speculation, error, and worse. Therefore I object to use of any hearsay quotes presented in the name of Srila Prabhupada. I believe if anyone wishes to quote something they heard from him on a certain occasion, it must be done properly. It needs to be stated that it is not a direct and verifiable quote, to say the least. I strongly suggest that all Srila Prabhupadas quotes posted on Facebook or anywhere come with a footnote stating its (complete) source, such as Type (Book, Conversation, etc), Place, Date, and so on; all which can be easily verified as existing somewhere in some type of recorded form.
