STAAR day: my 9-yr-old stressed and crying before school. My best advice to my daughter: You are not your essay. I hate what the testing does to kids. It doesnt matter that I downplay the importance of these tests or reiterated how they dont reflect their worth or even how much they actually know. My kids are just like all the others: scared and stressed. I guess its better than the other side of the coin: apathetic.
