STAGGERING! Sometimes God does something that ROCKS your world. Last week I received a letter saying, Wanted to let you know this letter [a correspondence lesson on the gospel of John] was in my sons [Kurtis] papers he kept on him in his things. He passed away Oct. 6th. He was 34. ... I wanted to return this, letting you know the impact it made on my self after reading it. Two weeks before he died we were doing door to door evangelism. Here is my reports. Sept. 18 report: Next we meet Kurtis. Kurtis thought he was a good person who was going to heaven because his good outweighed his bad. I said if you go before a Judge does he weigh your good against your bad or is he just going to look at the bad. He agreed - just the bad. I then shared the gospel of GRACE with him. He seemed to really track and at the end of the night he said he wanted to trust Christ. I asked him if he had changed his mind (repented) about being good enough. He said he had. I asked him what his confession was of Christ and he said He believed He was God who died for all his sins. I said, Why dont you tell Him what you just told me. So right there with his eyes wide open he prayed thanking Jesus for forgiveness, etc. and then I prayed for him. He wanted to do the John lessons but has no Bible - so I am taking him one tomorrow. Sept. 19 report: I did take a Bible tonight to Kurtis who professed faith last night. His former father-in-law was there and so I shared the gospel with him. Kurtis was right there with me telling him it is all the grace of God. This is the same guy that last night started out by saying its a matter of your good outweighing your bad. He was excited to get the Bible and assured me he would do the John lessons. Praise the Lord His Word does not return void and we shared the gospel with a good number of people this week. JUST THINK this man Kurtis is right now in heaven with the Lord for all eternity because of the DIVINE APPOINTMENT I had to share the gospel with him on Sept. 18. It was late that night - already getting dark. Kurtis was outside hollering at the top of his lungs for his daughter down the street to come in for the night. The mosquitoes were TERRIBLE. When I first said Hi to Kurtis he did not seem that friendly or welcoming - BUT he listened and then humbled himself making a faith commitment. I cant wait to get to glory and share in the full JOY of GRACE for all eternity with Kurtis! His mother does not know the rest of the story. I cant wait to fill her in and share the same GOOD NEWS with her that I shared with her son. Whether we realize it or not there is URGENCY! How amazing to be used of God in rescuing people on the BRINK OF ETERNITY. It is STAGGERING! Isaiah 45:22 (NKJV) 22 “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! Hebrews 3:7–8 (NKJV) 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Revelation 22:17 (NKJV) 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
