SCHEDULE SATURDAY (8. 11. 2011) 6.00pm – 9.00pm OPEN BHAJAN (TEMERLOH, KUANTAN, KEMAMAN, K. TEREGGANU 9.00pm – 12.00am K. TERENGGANU SUNDAY (9. 11.2011) 12.00am – 3.00am KEMAMAN 3.00am – 6.00am YOUTHS 6.00am – 9.00am TEMERLOH 9.00am – 11.00am K. TERENGGANU (subject to confirmation) 11.00am – 2.00pm KUANTAN 2.00pm – 3.00pm BAL VIKAS 3.00pm – 6.00pm CLOSING BHAJAN (TEMERLOH, KUANTAN & OTHERS STAYING BACK) 2. SINGERS FOR THE OPEN BHAJAN SESSIONS a) 6.00pm – 9pm (Saturday) Temerloh, Kuantan, Kemaman & K. Terengganu are to nominate FIVE (5) good lead singers each. Each lead singer must come prepared with FOUR FAMILIAR BHAJANS sung at medium and fast tempos. Please select short and medium bhajans. b) 3pm – 6pm (Sunday) Temerloh and Kuantan are to nominate SEVEN (7 ) good lead singers each (Total 14). Each lead singer must come prepared with FIVE FAMILIAR BHAJANS sung at medium and fast tempos. Please select short and medium bhajans. c) Lead Singers /Bhajans for Open Sessions Each centre must submit the names of the lead singers and the bhajan lyrics to the State Coordinator by 2nd November 2014 to facilitate the arrangement of bhajans. d) Arrangement of Bhajans for Opening and Closing Sessions Sis. Sai Matura (Temerloh) and Bro. Saravanan (Kuantan) have been assigned to arrange the bhajans for the Opening and Closing sessions. d) Centres should also pre-select the songs their lead singers are going to sing and arrange them so that they lead to a crescendo. If possible they should come prepared with a bhajan sheet. 3. PA SYSTEM / MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS a) Organising hosts must ensure that a good PA system and 4 mikes are available. Please test all the mikes and the system to ensure they are functional. b) Centres are encouraged to bring along their own musical instruments such as harmonium, tabla, dholak and tambourine. Rules regarding the singing of bhajans and use of instruments are listed below. c) Bhajan sheets will be prepared for the Opening and Closing sessions. Temerloh centre will provide 20 bhajan books for use but you are also encouraged to bring along your own bhajan books. 4. FUNDING As has been the practice in recent years, SSBC of Temerloh will undertake the cost of the Global Akhand Bhajan – food, drinks, rental of canopies etc. The following meal times are suggested. 8:00 – 9.00pm DINNER 7.00 – 8.00am BREAKFAST 12:00 0 1.00pm LUNCH 6: 30pm TEA + TIT-BITS 5. ACCOMODATION Outstation devotees who are going to stay over-night need to make their own accommodation arrangements. SSBC of Temerloh wiil assist in finding suitable hotels or rooms for home-stay. 6. BHAJAN RULES a) Bhajan songs Introductions (Alap) are strictly not allowed. Prashanti bhajans shall be sung TWICE at the first speed and ONCE at the second speed. English & Tamil bhajans will be sung ONCE at the first speed and ONCE at the second speed. Chinese bhajans shall be sung TWICE at the first speed and ONCE at the second speed. b) Instruments Centres are encouraged to bring their own instruments – harmonium, tabla, dholak, tambourine etc. To reduce din (noise) from the instruments, it is suggested only two instruments be used for each session. For example, harmonium and tabla; tabla/ dholak and tambourine. After midnight, instruments should be played very softly. c) MIKES There shall be no mikes between 12midnite and 7.00am on Sunday. [ ALSO REFER TO RULE 8 AND 9] 7. SONGS FOR OPENING AND CLOSING BHAJAN Each centre /bhajan unit must submit one Ganesha bhajan, one Guru bhajan, two English bhajans, and one Sarva Dharma bhajan (total 5) and 15 other bhajans for the Opening Bhajan. 3. You must submit the names of the singers and the LYRICS by 2nd November 2011. 4. At your centre, please conduct bhajan practices. All the lead singers must attend the practices. Sis. Matura, Bro. Saravanan, Sis. Tracy (and Sis. Susheela, if available) and Bro. Bobby - please look into this. 8. MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS 8.1 OPEN BHAJAN Harmonium All singers to be present by 5.00pm. Efforts are being made to get a harmonian player to provide the key for the lead singers. Tabla / Dholak Bro. Sara will appoint a suitable person to handle this so that only one tabla / dholak is played at a time. Tambourine Use is strictly limited to reduce din (noise) Only one tambourine is to be used at any one time. 3.2 CENTRE SLOTS Centres should make own arrangements for musical instruments. The same rules in 3.1 apply. 9. PA SYSTEM AND MIKES 6.00pm – 9.00pm Use of PA system, mikes and instruments allowed for maximum impact (Subject to 8.1) 9.00pm – 12am Use of PA system is allowed but volume will be reduced slightly. The same applies to musical instruments 12am – 7.00am STRICTLY NO MIKES AND NO INSTRUMENTS 7.00am – 10.00am Use of PA system is allowed but volume will be reduced slightly. The same applies to musical instruments 10.00am – 1.00pm Use of PA system is allowed but volume will be reduced slightly. The same applies to musical instruments 1.00pm – 6.00pm Use of PA system, mikes and instruments allowed for maximum impact. (Subject to 8.1) 10. BEGINNING OF AKHAND BHAJAN (To be conducted by Temerloh Centre) Three Oms Ganapathy Prathana / Ganesha Stothra (Vakra Tunda) / Guru Stothra Akhand Bhajan begins 11. CLOSING OF AKHAND BHAJAN (To be conducted by Kuantan centre) Sarva Dharma Prayer (Om Tat Sat) Universal Vedic Prayer (Asathoma Satgamaya – 3 TIMES) Gayathri (Om Bhur Bhava – 3 TIMES) Christian Prayer (Our father who art in Heaven) Buddhist Prayer Kuan Yin Prayer Sikh Prayer Universal Prayer (Samastha Lokha Sukhino Bhavantu) Mangal Arathi Vibhuti Mantram (3 times) Food Prayer Closing remarks by State Coordinator 12. MANGALA AARTHI All devotees will perform the mangala aarthi. It will be family aarthi. Individuals can form a Sai family. 13. DRESS CODE All devotees, especially lead singers, should dress as they would in Swami’s Divine presence. BROTHERS (ALL WHITE) White Jippa / white shirt / white T-shirt & white trousers SISTERS We would prefer ALL lead singers to be in white. We discourage TIGHT PANTS AND JEANS. 14. PUNCTUALITY To ensure the smooth running of the bhajan, all devotees and lead singers for the Opening Bhajan (6.00pm) should be at the centre by 5.00pm so that they can have sufficient rest. Hot tea/coffee and mee-hoon will be served when you arrive. For your respective slots, you are advised to be present in the centre at least 20 minutes before your slot, have some refreshments and be seated for your session 10 minutes before your scheduled slot. If for any reason any centre/bhajan unit is late, the current group should continue singing until the group arrives. Don’t stop just because your time is up. 15. SIGNAGES & PARKING There will be SAI RAM SIGNAGES as you reach the TEMERLOH-MENTAKAB JUNCTION As parking place at the centre is strictly limited, please park your cars at the designated place and walk about 200m to the centre.
