STATEMENT BY EAMONN MALONEY TD LABOUR PARTY TD FOR DUBLIN SOUTH WEST LOCAL TOURISM HAS GREAT SCOPE FOR JOB CREATION The announcement by the National Transport Authority that they are providing €25,000 funding for the development of the Dodder Greenway cycle route has been welcomed by Eamonn Maloney TD "This seed funding is for an examination of the potential of the route from a tourist, recreational and economic perspective together with design and Part 8 planning for the section between Oldbawn and Bohernabreena." "There is doubt that the planned Dodder Greenway from the River Liffey at Grand Canal Dock to the beautiful and historic Glenasmole Valley where it links up with the successful Dublin Mountains Way walking route, will be a great attraction, not just to city based tourists but also to the greater Dublin population. The planned cross route will provide links to Tallaght and Ballyboden." "This investment is necessary to examine the feasibility of the proposed Greenway which in my opinion, will lead to the development of jobs in the tourism sector. We cannot sit back and wait for foreign multinational companies to create jobs. Some job creation can be undertaken by our own efforts using the resources in our communities. The pay back will not be just increased tourism revenues but also an improvement in the physical fitness and health of the population."
