STATEMENT RECEIVED concerning the RIDE ON THE CAPITOL I - TopicsExpress

STATEMENT RECEIVED concerning the RIDE ON THE CAPITOL I understand that there is a large group gathered to protest illegal immigration into our country. I cant be there today because of a prior commitment, so I am sending this statement. We are a nation designed of the people, by the people, for the people. When I ran for office someone asked me if I really thought that I could make a difference. My answer was, absolutely, if I didnt think that, I would not be spending all this effort to get elected. The two phrases, of the people, and by the people, indicate that there is something for all of us to do in regard to how we are governed. When things are not what we want them to be is not the time to drop out of the process in frustration, but to become even more heavily engaged than before. As both a fellow citizen as well as an elected official, I share your frustration with the illegal immigration crisis. It harms our national security, robs our precious resources, and contributes to a general decline. I believe in smaller government and a more responsible government. That applies today perhaps more than any time in our history. It is hard work and difficult to achieve because there are always those who want more of whatever it is. I have and will continue to work hard for responsible and accountable state government. Our Constitutional form of government is priority number one. Unfortunately, today we have a national administration that seems to make the wrong decisions consistently. At the same time our Mexican neighbor is allowing people from other countries to enter, and pass through undisturbed, then exit on to our country; one of our own soldiers sits in a Mexican prison for the absurdly noncriminal offense of making a wrong turn at the same border that they cant control in the opposite direction. Proverbs 14:1 states, Every wise woman builds her house: but the foolish plucks it down with her hands. If we are to avoid destroying our house, the time is now. The days of voting comfortably with no consequences is over. I urge you to vote and vote like it is the most important thing that you will do this year! Elected conservatives that value our system of government need like minded colleagues to join them. We can make a difference!! God bless you all!! Senator John Cooper
