STATEMENT from Brent Councillors John Warren, Carol Shaw, and Joel - TopicsExpress

STATEMENT from Brent Councillors John Warren, Carol Shaw, and Joel Davidson The Tricycle receives £198,000 a year from Brent, and has a specific remit to put on a range of activities that appeals to our diverse community. By taking a political decision to exclude the UK Jewish Film Festival we believe that the Tricycle is in breach of their funding agreement. The agreement specifically refers to equality of opportunity for service users....does that not include our Jewish community? Cllr. Mohammed Butt is leader of the Council and and is on the Tricycle management board. To date he has been staggeringly evasive in his one public statement, and Brent residents expect its leader to show leadership and take a view on this artistic censorship. So Cllr. Butt do you support the Tricycle decision to cancel the UKJFF ? Yes or no? For our part we the support the work of the Tricycle and the quality of its cultural output. So why jeopardise the support of so many people by blatant discrimination of the Jewish community? Tricycle please reconsider your decision. Signed Cllr John Warren Cllr Carol Shaw Cllr Joel Davidson
