STAY STRONG ISAAC..... we are so hopeful of a complete recovery for you boy. Vet Report just in >>>>> UPDATE Re: Isaac Date: 17/6/2014 Horse of: Amanda & Jennifer Vella & Malloch Dear Amanda & Jennifer This is an update to keep you informed on the current status of your horse. We have operated on Isaacs foot again today. This time we sedated the horse and nerve blocked his foot. A tourniquet was applied to control haemorrhage. Particulalry we directed attention to the coronary band region which is going to be criotical to success. The old coronet around the crack was certainly not continuous and had various areas of non normal tissue including a small dermal cyst and grooves of disconnected tubules running down from the coronet. What we have attempted to do is remove all the separated and discontinuous tissue down to a plane of coronary material that is all connected and relatively homogeneous so that hopefully new wall can grow in one united piece. We now have to wait and see how the new tissue grows and deal with it as it progresses. We then curetted and removed all the supoerficial laminae below the coronet. Pleasingly now it seems that all the infection has been controlled and we seem to have healthy material. Again, we now have to deal with it daily and attempt to get a settled flat plain of keratinised wall. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions regarding this case. Kind Regards, David K. Lovell BVSc(hons) MACVSc(Equine Surgery) THE HORSE HOSPITAL at REDLANDS
