STEM Club members I apologize if the Club wall for the last 24 hours is about a missing tutor at Carroll Community College - Zachary Jones I am in a profession where I care about every single student and I believe every single member of this group (200+ strong) cares about each other - some we have sat in classes, some tutored, some who are faculty/staff and some perhaps we only know by name. . Zach was my student for four semester and then for the last 3 years, he has been tutoring chemistry and mathematics courses. I valued Zach not only because he was my student but he goes beyond helping my current students in chemistry - YOU!! For those of you who had him as a tutor for chemistry and mathematics courses, you very well know how caring he was. He certainly did not have to tutor for us as he could have made more money working in McDonalds, Burger King or Taco Bell. However, he chose to PAY back to College and help the students out as other in past who had helped him. He also has attended presentation of every class in chemistry without a fail for the last few years and to me that is mountain of gold for a former student to value his former faculty at that level. He came to listen to YOU - even some of you who did not know him. The photos below are of the last time I saw and talked to him on Dec. 12th where he attended chemistry presentation and attended the STEM Club lunch. He always make sure that he makes it known that he wants three large pizza - white pizza with chicken. He is a trooper because even when he consumes a lot, he would always go for another slice just because I asked him to do so. So yes, I care about Zach enough that I believe we should all help at this crucial time when his family needs him most - even those of you who personally did not know him. Let us find Zach and bring him back safely to his family!
