STEM is a common acronym in education today. It refers to the subjects of science, technology, engineering and math. During our days with preschoolers, it has come to be our understanding that they are natural learners in these areas! They watch with awe as we do science experiments and are often heard to say, “That is magic, but not really!” Technology entered their lives at birth…nothing interests them more than ipads and smart phones. Engineering is seen as they skillfully build and balance tall towers with blocks, as they create any number of flying ships with Legos and as they delicately piece together castles and cities with magnet tiles. Their skills with numbers astound us! Who knew that there would be so many conversations at the lunch tables about infinity and google and how they could make each of those even bigger by adding or doubling them? We are talking about three, four and five year old children who love to dive into new experiences or conversations and come out with a whole new set of thoughts and skills. It is one of our greatest pleasures to be able to witness this joy of learning and to watch as their minds unfold. The world is in for a glorious change as our little ones move forward to make change, to create and to imagine a better way for us all to live!
