STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART Protecting Our Integrity Integrity is defined as possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards. It is also defined as doing the right thing, even if nobody is watching. It is very common to be faced with situations that challenge our integrity in one way or another. Some find it a struggle to find the courage to stand up for whats right. For others conquering adversity might not be challenging at all. Making the right choice when we know people are watching might be easy. But, are we as quick to make good choices, be honest, or stand up for whats right when no one is around? Do we guard our integrity no matter what the cost? Integrity which defines our character is a value we should all develop and strengthen. When it is allowed to fall by the wayside, we are failing ourselves. Its not always easy, but the more we practice doing the right thing, the sooner it becomes one of our character traits. Let us make sure that our integrity is intact no matter what situation we find ourselves in. Let our actions make a statement about who we are. It might even help eliminate stress. After all, when we’re honest, we dont have to rely so much on our memory. Here’s a man the bible speaks of with impeccable integrity: Job 2:3 And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you incited me against him to destroy him without reason.” As Marcus Aurelius once said “Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.”
