STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART The Race is not to the Swift, but to Those Who Endure to the end The 100-metre dash - a sprint race in track and field competition is ready to start. The runners are poised in the starting blocks excitedly and anxiously waiting to hear an Official fire the starter’s pistol. BANG! They’re off and running!. The sprinters typically start out at break neck speed then slow down towards the finish line or even drop out. If we are determined to endure to the end, we must keep our eyes on the finish line. We start strong and we finish strong. Don’t ever lose sight of the finish line. This incentivizes and energizes us to endure all the way to end. It’s not about starting off at a fast pace, but sticking with our goal until the end is what matters. Think of this as it relates to marriage. Sometimes the chemistry could be hot and heavy between a husband wife and they find themselves all over each other. While this is an important aspect of marriage, the real test of a marriage is being able to hold on and stick together through it all with the same tenacity that they went through the hot and heavy chemistry as they battle challenges and struggle through the mundane. Hebrews 12:1-2 admonishes us that since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Remember to start strong and finish strong. Do not grow weary in well doing because in due season we will reap the reward. Have a blessed day.
