STRIKE UPDATE FROM CORNWALL COUNCIL - 8 am. Laurence Reed wants your calls from 12 noon 018762 222222 with your views on the strike. The Cornwall Council services and facilities which have been affected by the national industrial action being organised by trade unions so far today are : Fire and Rescue Service Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) are taking industrial action between 10 am and 7pm. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) are continuing to respond to 999 calls and will do everything it can to keep the public safe during these periods of strike action. Transport The Torpoint ferry service is suspended from 0001 on Thursday 10 July to 2359 on Thursday 10 July (24 hours).This means the last ferry left Torpoint at 2330 and Devonport at 2345 on Wednesday 9 July. Normal service will resume on Friday 11 July, with the first ferry leaving Torpoint at 0000 and Devonport at 0015. Agreement has been reached to provide an emergency only service for blue light emergency crossings for emergency vehicles during the strike period. The Tamar Bridge is not affected by the industrial action, and all traffic lanes and toll booths are open. Schools 51 schools in Cornwall have reported they will be either fully or partially closed as a result of the industrial action. There are 272 schools in Cornwall - 236 primary, 32 secondary and 4 special schools.
