STUDENT DISCIPLINE-RELATED TRANSITIONAL POLICIES FOR DLSU-STC The Student Discipline Formation Office (SDFO) wishes to inform and remind the academic community, particularly the students, of the following Student Discipline-related Transitional Policies for DLSU-STC as mandated by the Student Handbook (SH): No Smoking Policy The University recognizes the hazards of smoking to health and declares the University premises, as defined in Sec. 5.5.2 of SH, as a non-smoking area (Sec. 1.3 of the SH). “University premises” refers to the territorial boundaries of DLSU Taft and STC campuses including the academic and non-academic buildings and campuses, the parking lots adjacent to it, as well as immediate sidewalks within a periphery of five (5) meters from gates, fences or dividing walls of buildings (Sec. 1.3 of the SH). In DLSU-STC, University premises include Residence Halls and the University Drive. The NO SMOKING POLICY covers all members of the academic community (faculty, administrators, students, co-academic personnel, maintenance people and visitors on campus). The non-smoking policy hopes to make the students conscious and concerned about the ill-effects of smoking to one’s health. As provided for in Sec. 5.3.2.15 of the SH, “Smoking inside University premises (Taft and STC campuses), along Agno and F. Reyes Streets, until E. Razon Sports Complex Building, or outside the University during academic functions or school activities” is a MINOR OFFENSE. ID-Related Policies Upon enrolment, students are issued original identification cards (ID) with computer-registered student numbers. Students should always have their ID with them to be presented to authorities if requested. The ID is valid as long as the student is enrolled in the University and cannot be confiscated while enrolled (Sec. 1.5 of the SH). The following ID-related policies are considered as discipline infraction: 3rd and succeeding entry into campus without an ID in every academic year or on the cumulative 6th, 8th, 10th (and so on) instance in their entire stay in the University and non-wearing of school ID inside DLSU-STC campus - MINOR OFFENSE In DLSU-STC, the ID continues to be part of school attire and should be worn visibly inside the DLSU-STC campus at ALL TIMES. Should students from Taft campus have classes or official school activities at DLSU-STC, it is their responsibility to provide an ID case and lace/lanyard for their ID. 5th and succeeding loss of an ID in their entire stay in the University (Sec. 5.3.2.27) - MINOR OFFENSE Refusal to present an ID or temporary pass when asked by University authorities (Sec. 5.3.2.5) – MINOR OFFENSE Failure to surrender the campus pass within three (3) days from issuance or loss of campus pass (Sec.5.3.3.25) – MINOR OFFENSE Lending ID to another or using someone else’s ID (Sec. 5.3.1.26) – MAJOR OFFENSE Dress Code Policy The University recognizes the right of students to come to school dressed according to their individual taste. However, they are encouraged to use attires that consider the educational character of the University and the sensibility of other members of the academic community. Dressing appropriately is a virtue which the University would like to cultivate among students, thus the University reserves the right to call the attention of students who dress inappropriately (Sec. 4.1 of the SH). You may refer to Appendix Z of the SH for the Implementing Guidelines on the Dress Code Policy. In DLSU-STC, part of the dress code policy is wearing corporate attire on the prescribed day (every Wednesday). The University is considered as a training ground for the students’ professional career, where certain standards of dressing are required for employment. Thus, the following guidelines on corporate attire form part of the students’ holistic Lasallian educational experience: Female Student: a. White blouse/ladies polo b. Black pants/pencil-cut skirts (length as defined in the Dress Code Guidelines) c. Allowed shoes (in accordance with the Dress Code Guidelines) • Closed heeled (peep toe, sling-back) • Closed flats Male Student: a. White polo barong (short/long sleeves) b. White dress shirt (long sleeves) c. Black slacks d. Black, dark-brown or dark-gray socks e. Leather shoes (black or dark-brown) Attires not allowed during Corporate Attire Day: a. Jeans/Maong/Denims/Corduroy b. Leggings c. T-shirt d. Cocktail dress e. Rubber shoes/slippers/sandals Wearing of corporate attire is waived during Final Examinations Week. Students with Laboratory and PE classes are expected to wear corporate attire after said classes. Students without classes on the prescribed corporate attire day but have business or activities in the STC campus are also expected to be in corporate attire. To enforce the practice and formation of dressing appropriately, Safety and Security Office (SSO) shall implement the Dress Code Policy as students enter the gates of DLSU Taft and STC campuses on a strictly “No Compliance, No Entry” policy. Following the existing provisions on the sanctions on the Dress Code Policy, the Discipline Officers (DOs) enforce continuing compliance with the policy inside the DLSU campuses. As provided for in Sec. 5.3.2.28 of the SH, “Second and succeeding violations of the Implementing Guidelines on the Dress Code Policy including the prescribed Corporate Attire in DLSU-STC” is a MINOR OFFENSE. Please be guided accordingly. Thank you.
