Simple Reassurance A couple of weeks ago, I had an unexpected, brief, stay in the hospital. Bottom line, I phased into what was diagnosed as heart-rate controlled Atrial Fibrillation. It was readily established that I had not had a heart attack, nor was there any evidence of heart damage. Needless to say, I would rather not have had the episode but I have since learned how many people have been in “A-Fib” and in many instances for numbers of years. This is not to suggest the fluttering action in the upper chambers of the heart is insignificant, but it is to say it is not something to run scared about. Quite often, in the midst of such experiences there are great moments of simple reassurance. The symptoms which prompted us to go to the Emergency Room proved to have no connection with my diagnosis; yet those symptoms got us where we needed to be! God’s watch-care never ceases to amaze me! Praise him for His protection and the ordering of events! After a bevy of tests and examination, I overheard the ER doctor saying on the phone, “I have a pleasant 82 year old man here in A Fib, but otherwise, is in very good health.” It is encouraging to be found “pleasant’ and “healthy” in a setting where those words seldom fit! Thanks for your prayers.
