Just sharing (this is an audio-visual presentation made by yours truly): Today, Second Sunday of October, Catholics Filipinos back home celebrate the annual solemn feast of La Naval de Manila, a century-old religious feast with commemorates the miraculous naval victory of the severely outnumbered and out-gunned Spanish-Filipino fleet of two galleons against a powerful Dutch armada of 18 warships which tried to invade the Philippine Islands in 1646. The victory is believed to have been achieved through the praying of the Rosary. Indeed the consequence would have been disastrous if the outcome of the battle had been the other way around; Had the Spanish-Filipino fleet defeated by the Dutch, our Islands would have been a province of Indonesia, and there would have been no independent country (with an independent identity) called Philippines to this day. Thanks to the effort and faith of our Filipino forefathers and our Spanish conquistadors, and through the help of Our Lady - the Philippines has been preserved up to this day.
