SUB: Forceful Selling Of Medical Insurance Policy worth Rs. Two - TopicsExpress

SUB: Forceful Selling Of Medical Insurance Policy worth Rs. Two Crore Since 1997, I hold Amex Credit Card and currently possess the Reserve Card No. 376933752182004. From the last 3 years I find the services of American Express specially the credit card division deteoriating day in and day out. Not going into the details, I would like to highlight the latest problem. I was approached by call center to take Medical Insurance policy being sold through American express worth Rs. 1 Crore under EMI plan. After lot of persuation by the executive, I accepted the same and given my consent. Immediately the next moment the Executive started over selling me with the higher plan of Rs. 2 Crore with all his pep talks. The discussion continued for fifteen days and finally I agreed for the same. Immediately after that I continued getting further calls from different people from American Express, for purchase of Rs. 2 Crore medical insurance policy. It seems Amex has assigned some quota to be fulfilled by these executives to sustain their job. I continued resenting, refusing and asking them as to how many policies they would like to sell me or should I buy? They always said sorry. They never cared to check the database. I do not know, and also would never buy two similar insurance policies, knowing very well that from only one policy the claim will be payable. To my surprise from the next month onwards I saw two EMI’S of the same amount of two different policies being deducted/ charged to my credit card. Further to this an interest of 0.12% was also debit without any such information given to me at the time of approval / consent and or even by the person who called up for confirmation. I felt cheated at the affairs of Amex and had been requesting the concerned to cancel both the policies and refund the amount due to me along with the interest at 35.4 % (which Amex charges from us, if we default). This discussion had been going on with Mr. Rohit, as has been informed, he being the top most Incharge handling the affairs of cancellation and refunding the amount. He had been assuring me for the last two months that I will receive refund to my card account but there seems to be no relief. I thus write to bring the same issue to your notice with the request to: - 1. Stop charging for the EMI’s for both the policies. 2. Refund the full amount of EMI’s charged to me from February 2013 onwards. 3. Release interest @ 35.4% from the date of payment till the last day of credit of the payment in my account.
