#SUBHANALLAH Via Abdullah Wafi A story attributed to Ash-Shaykh Abul Hasan an-Nadwi There was an Indian poet who used to drink and be deeply absorbed in all sorts of sins. One day whilst he was drinking, he had next to him a young Arab who was a communist. They used to drink together and talk about different topics and they had no concern for the religion. All of a sudden the communist started to insult the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) whilst the Indian poet was drunk to the extent that his head became heavy. But as soon as he heard the insults against the Prophet, he started shaking and became enraged. So he stood up and started beating up the man with his shoes whilst crying and saying, Yes! We drank wine! we made mistakes! we sinned..! But we dont have anything remaining with us except the love of Allah and His Messenger, and except Imaan in Allah and His Messenger and you want to insult Allah and His Messenger in our presence?! He continued hitting the young man until he lost his senses. The poet then repented and turned to Allah and abandoned the sins that he used to be involved in. Allah has spoken the truth.. Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allah . So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome.
