Those old people who still can afford to take care of the project were identified to avail. These 30 beneficiaries undergone an orientation and were taught how to run said project. Each Sr. Citizen member was given 5 piglets (amounting to 10, 000) excluding budget for animal’s food. As of now they have started returning back/ roll back of the amount (10,000) released by DSWD-SEA K. According to the Senior Citizens who have availed such project, they were happy because the government gave them the opportunity of living a responsible life and not just to depend on their children. On their very little way it helped improved their lives to come out from poverty situations and somehow they were able to proved that old age is not a hindrance to success. They are thanking the government for this BUB-GPB Programs. For them, it is the right decision of the government to include Senior Citizens in Planning and Budgeting Process. CITIZENS OF LAMBAYONG MUNICIPALITY THRU GPB (BUB) IMPLEMENTATION 2013 THRU DSWD-SEA K BY: MARY VI CASTILLO /COMMUNITY MOBILIZER –SK Province Lambayong is an Ilocano-muslim community where in it was considered as the rice capital of Sultan Kudarat province but with so many indigent people living. When GPB (BUB) started its implementation, one of the concerns is the sector of the elderly. These people, represented by active officers asked for a funding during the planning and budgeting process (LPRAP) to include livelihood projects. Among that were considered: Duck Raising, Pig Fattening and Production, Bag Making, Sari sari store and many others amounting to 2 million pesos. 400 senior citizens were identified. Just recently, I went around to monitor the status of implementation. An employee from MSWD and a Sr, Cit CSO member accompanied me. I have interviewed beneficiaries of the projects and can attest to the success they had in benefiting from this project. Mrs. Leonora Pasawilan is an owner of a native bag making production. She was given an additional seed capital of 5, 000 pesos coming from the 2 million pesos GPB/BUB funding. Her products were usually marketed locally but just this year Ms. Earth Organizers ordered a volume of bags for give-aways during the conduct of the competition. Mrs. Erlinda Baldonado had a Duck Raising project. She is selling it now for 100 pesos per kilo. According to her, this project had helped her a lot. She is thankful that the government supported Sr. Citizens activities and the system of teaching the old ones run a small business is already a big challenge to them. Mrs. Felicidad Yulo and Adelina Llarena had a pig fattening project just in their backyard. They used the 5, 000 pesos as an additional capital for the food and other needs of their pigs. These animals were raised for fattening. 4 to 5 months they disposed those pigs and they started paying back their seed capital thru depositing the amount in a local bank then bought piglets again for fattening. Mrs. Luz Lunasco is enjoying her sari sari store. She sells vegetables and fruits in front of her house. She said she is so grateful that she was identified to avail said project from the government. All seed capital was released February 26, 2014 thru the supervision of MSWD-Lambayong. They are being monitored / checked regularly by the BUB focal to make sure that all beneficiaries are doing well and the projects really exist. The Project is still on-going but our elderly are sure that success really happens on their daily lives. GPB (BUB) LIVELIHOOD PROJECTS FOR WOMEN, FARMERS, PWD & SR.
