SUMMER CAMP IN JEJU SOUTH KOREA 2014 COLLABORATION BETWEEN PRESIDENT UNIVERSITY AND JEJU NATIONAL UNIVERSITY President University in collaboration with Jeju National University (JNU), South Korea, will organize Korea Summer Camp 2014 in Jeju starting from August the 4th to August 18th (2 weeks program). The Summer Camp aims to introduce Korean culture to youngsters around the world and to learn Korean language. Moreover, it will be participated by 40 other students from sister universities of JNU. About Jeju island: Jeju Island, also known as the Island of the Gods, is a popular vacation spot for Koreans and foreigners. It remains the top honeymoon destination for Korean newlyweds, and is also regarded as one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world. Despite attempts to market the island as the Hawaii of Korea, climatologically and geographically it bears little in similarity to the Hawaiian Islands in the U.S. The island offers visitors a wide range of activities: hiking on Halla-san (South Koreas highest peak) or Olle-gil(routes), catching sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, riding horses, touring all the locales from a favorite television K-drama, or just lying around on the sandy beaches. The local traditional culture stands in stark contrast to the mainland (and much of Asia) as being matriarchal. Stemming from this basis, and some odd tax reasons, the role of seafood gathering on the island has been dominated by women. As such, a common sight around Jejus coastline is that of the haenyo or woman diver, a figure that has become somewhat iconic of the island. Perhaps even more iconic are the dol hareubang or grandfather statues, giant basalt statues. You will often see them outside restaurants, plus a few are thrown into any tourism site for good measure. The total fee for the two weeks program (program+meals+lodging) is only $650 but when everything is included, heres the rough estimation of the total cost: Estimation of the Total Cost: $1,800/participant Duration: + 2 Weeks (August 4th – August 18th) – Semester Break The total cost already includes: Korean course, Excursion, Meals 2 times/day, Lodging, Round trip flight tickets from Jakarta to Seoul/Seoul to Jakarta, Round trip flight tickets from Seoul to Jeju/Jeju to Seoul, and Visa Excluding: airport tax and personal expenditures Deadline: April 2014 Allocated seats for President University: 10 Participants More info/application: [Jhanghiz Syahrivar] SMS: 0813 1761 6239 / Email:[email protected]
