SUMMER – A TIME FOR FUN IN THE SUN! But unfortunately also the time of the year when we start receiving those unbelievable calls.......” I don’t want my dog anymore, come fetch it, it has ticks”........ This is a call animal welfares receive MANY times every day in Summer, and that goes for African Tails too! Because Summer for township dogs also means infestation of ticks, often resulting in tick fever, and some other major problems like being chained up without food, water or shelter. So the A Team have decided to start a dipping programme, as well as vaccinating, deworming and mange treatments one day every fortnight on a continuing basis. Our first dip day will be on Wednesday 22 January! There are many ways that you can get involved: volunteer on the ground, donate food, collars, leads, bowls, dip and tick and flea collars. All the things we do – and there’s so much more – takes a lot of time and money. Even though we encourage community members to pay a small fee, they are not always able to do so. To vaccinate, deworm, dip and feed one dog costs us R100. So we would like to ask YOU to help during us do this. You can help by sponsoring a dog for R100. If we find that the response is good and sustainable, we plan on investing in a mobile unit that can visit these areas on a weekly basis – there is definitely a GREAT need for this. So please click, and help us make this happen - all you have to do is make a once off, or preferably recurring payment of R100 a month by clicking on the following link: https://givengain/cgi-bin/giga.cgi?cmd=donate&cause_id=5070 GivenGain is a new platform that we are using for fundraising. It is simple to use, for credit card or direct bank transfers, and recurring payments (instead of a debit order). It is also accessible to our supporters outside of South Africa! If you would like volunteer on these days, and get doggone dirty, please send a mail to [email protected] We say a huge BOW WOW thank you from all the voiceless furry friends.
