SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26 at 7pm Upstairs at Vitellos- I dont think Ive ever met anyone who worked harder or extended himself more to show support to people in their efforts pursuing their joys and careers in Music....I hope that some of the many people whos lives were touched by RICK STARR will support our new effort to create a scholarship fund in his name STARR BUCKS to give small cash awards to up and coming Musical Theater Students- RICK STARR was a beloved figure in the Musical Theater and Cabaret Community...a tireless supporter of the arts and the people who create the arts, Rick was a one man Welcome Wagon into the performing community of Los Angeles. Our new program STARR BUCKS continues his efforts to provide support and encouragement to up and coming talent in the form of small monetary endowments for extras like sheet music, cds, and Theater tickets... We are launching our first fundraiser for STARR BUCKS! THE RICK STARR SCHOLARSHIP FUND to give small cash awards to students of Musical Theater for Theater Tix, cds and sheet music. I wanted our first show to be extra special and I think Ive outdone myself- We have one of the most popular singers in the cabaret community, MARYJO MUNDYm Musical Director MICHAEL SOBIE from the National Tour of Wicked..now a faculty member at AMDA- Plus we have DREAMBOAT TODD MURRAY- star of the touring concert CROON, wholl be making a rare live appearance in Los Angeles. In addition to being a sought after vocalist, Todd is the owner of GLOBAL VOICE BROADCASTING, the internet station that hosts my little podcast that could CABARABIA gvbradio/cabarabia AND-SHAWN RYAN!!!! He is a Superstar in his hometown of San Francisco and can fill huge venues and his L.A. shows are always sold out. His wicked sense of humor is only surpassed by what a GREAT singer he is.....and his shows are reminiscent of the early Bette Midler where the whole scene is a party and he rocks and rolls and croons and makes you howl with laughter and cry in your wine PLUS- JUST ADDED! To keep the party going- MARYJO MUNDY and I have decided to co-host an OPEN MIC immediately following the show....Since there are soooo many singers that were hoping will turn out to support this effort in Ricks name, we wanted to give more people a chance to shine...so after the TODD/SHAWN/.MARYJO/MICHAEL show...well have an OPEN MIC on the very groovy UPSTAIRS AT VITELLOS stage.
