SUNDAY SERVICE REPORT: 8th September “Okoro obia dimma, mmma mmae, soso Gi bu Chimo, Mmma mmae, nara ekele….” Thus went the Frank Edward’s song beautifully rendered by Pastor Ifeanyi and choir as everyone went around shaking one another under Pastor’s instruction- that was just before the sermon. The atmosphere had heated up before Pastor mounted the pulpit to minister. Bro Kelvin led the praise with a fleet of western songs that was artistically maneuvered to fit into the our praise beats. It made real sense. Sister Praise took the worship to higher heights. One song that made worship hit yesterday was: “So we worship You, Almighty God, You are lifted up above all”. There’s no doubt that you missed if you were not there. This one is not “I was there in the spirit”. You missed if you were not physically there. The Choir sang the song, “Heaven on Earth”. And so it was. As usual, a remarkable as aspect of the service was Pastor’s message. He preached on The Necessity of Prayer, capping up last week’s prayer and fasting. He made so many profound points: Every Gardener must be an effective praying Christian. Prayer has no substitute and is indispensible in the survival of the Christian’s life. Any Christian can pray. Stop saying I can’t pray and learn to pray. Stop dodging prayers if you are in the habit. You are the one who will lose if you don’t pray. Some people keep singing and dancing in the Church but as soon as the song ends and prayer begins, they will sit down. They are weak once they hear prayers. It’s always the devil’s design to bar the Christian from praying. Satan does not have problems as long as the Christian does not pray. Prayerless Christians are his cheapest preys. Prayer is a means to maintain closeness to God. Prayer is communication and communication grows and sustains relationship. A Christian who does not pray is prone to all kinds of harassment and embarrassments from ever busy little, little devils. Pastor said you can pray if you can talk. Prayer is talking to God instead of talking to man. You are a good prayer material if you can gist well. For those who could stay hours and watch movies, he said it’s an indication that you are a great intercessor who has the potential to lock up in the closet and pray for hours. It would be very profitable to convert those movie hours into prayers. He concluded by asking us to go on and pray without ceasing (1Thes 5:17). And one way to pray without ceasing is by praying in tongues. Before he was done, we were all so stirred up in the spirit to pray. It was all marvelous. Get the cds. The 3rd service was Family Prayer Service which was really exceptional and well attended. You want the gist?
